In the context of Europe’s energy transition and the push for deep renovation, façades play a critical role in improving building performance and reducing environmental impact.

For this reason, FACE participants took part in the 3rd edition of the Renovation Days, from 26 to 28 November, the leading italian event about offsite building renovation and innovation on the façade sector, focusing on prefabrication and integration of technologies for the deep retrofit of the European building stock.

This year’s edition introduced a new format, a larger venue at BASE Milano, and an international audience of professionals, researchers, and industry leaders.

The main program included a first day dedicated to visions, policies, and scenarios at Italian, European, and international levels. Topics included:

  • Challenges, targets, and policies

  • International experiences and the most innovative cities

  • Emerging technological solutions for public building regeneration and the INFINITE project

  • Green finance, resident engagement, and the Top Retrofit 2025 Award

The second day featured the European Façade Network Conference – Façade 2025, including:

  • Industry and innovation sessions on cutting-edge solutions

  • Tools and methods for building envelope regeneration

  • A round table on innovative deep renovation strategies

  • A technical insight into industrialized retrofit solutions for Italian social housing

FACE Technical Training at the Renovation Days

The final day was dedicated to FACE participants, who attended an exclusive workshop on industrialized façade renovation and digital tools for design and project management. The program included:

1. Energy renovation through industrialized façades: case studies and best practices

Led by Riccardo Pinotti (Eurac Research) and Diego Tamburrini (Eurac Research)

Participants explored real-world examples and strategies for deep renovation using prefabricated façade systems, addressing performance, sustainability, and scalability.

2. BIM-p + Tool hands-on session

Led by Davide Madeddu (One Team) (INFINITE project)

A practical workshop introducing digital tools for façade design and renovation, enabling participants to integrate BIM workflows and optimize project delivery.

Renovation Days 2025 was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Eurac Research with EDERA, innovation hub promoting industrialized renovation to reduce construction time, costs, and environmental impact, and European Façade Network (EFN), a European network of experts advancing building envelope design and knowledge-sharing through research, training, and cooperation.

Thanks to our partners and sponsors: Alpewa, PICHLER projects, WICONA, Domal, Arup, and glassAdvisor, your support is fundamental for the development of the next generation of façade design and engineers!
